Fairfield Animal Shelter showered with 7-year-old’s birthday gifts

Ronan Stines, who recently celebrated her seventh birthday, opted to receive donations for the Fairfield County Shelter animals instead of birthday gifts for herself. WINNSBORO – Ronan Stines of Winnsboro recently turned 7 and, instead of receiving birthday presents from friends and relatives, she requested donations for the animals at the Fairfield County Animal Shelter.

They complied, and it was quite a birthday haul for some very lucky animals.

Ronan collected enough donations that she and her brother Levi, 4, and sister Hensley,1, were able to deliver four dog houses to the shelter along with bags of pet food, treats, toys and blankets, and while they were at the shelter, they were allowed to visit all the dogs and cats and hand out treats to them.

Ronan explained that she loves animals and especially the Stine’s family pet, an older Pit Bull named Zero. Besides taking gifts to the shelter, she said she enjoyed visiting with the dogs.

“They were really noisy when we started giving them treats,” she said. She said she thought they all kind of wanted to go home with her. Which, she admitted, is something she would have liked.
