Eagle softball searching for first win

CHESTER – Richard Winn softball returned to the field but under new leadership in head coach Millie Lambert.

The Eagles faced their first opponent in a tough Chester squad on Feb. 26.

Sophomores Langley Thompson and Caroline Tolbert combined for 3 innings of work from the circle as the Eagles took a hard 24-2 loss in 3.5 innings of play. Thompson faced 19 batters, struck out three, walked eight and allowed six hits. Tolbert faced 18 batters, struck out two, walked four and allowed nine hits.

Senior Meagan Brigman led at the plate, batting 2-2 with a triple. Brantley Caulder went 1-2 with an RBI double.

Great Falls bested the Eagle squad on March 5 with a 15-0 final in four and a half innings. Tolbert and Thompson combined again for four innings. Together, they struck out five, walked nine and allowed eight hits.

Brigman batted 2-2 with a double. Alex Lewis went 1-2.

The Eagles are set to travel to Wardlaw on Friday for their first region game of the season. They will host their first home game on March 26 against Midlands STEM.
