Eagles hold on for win over Northside

WINNSBORO – Richard Winn’s baseball team found some tougher competition and a full seven-inning game against Northside Christian Academy last Friday, but the Eagles held on for a 4-1 win.

The Eagles jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second after Owen Martin hit an RBI single, then Miller Stuck hit an RBI double. Two more runs were scored on Crusader errors.

Stuck got the win from the mound. He allowed three hits and one run over five innings of work. He struck out 10 and walked three.  Anthony Armstrong picked up a save with two innings of work. He allowed five hits and struck out two.

Stuck and Charlie Bonds had two hits each on the day. Ethan Steward also doubled in the win.

The Eagles hosted York Prep on Wednesday, but the score was not available by The Voice’s press deadline. They’ll host American Leadership Academy on Friday at 6 p.m.
