Griffins blank Ridge View, Great Falls

WINNSBORO – Fairfield Central ended their first week of regular season play with clean sweeps of Ridge View and Spring Valley.

In Thursday’s game at Ridge View, Jonathan Warren dominated from the mound, stacking up 10 strikeouts as the Griffins shut out the Blazers 9-0. Warren threw for six and two-thirds innings, allowing only three hits and walking four.

The griffins tallied 11 hits in the win. CIU-commit Blake Gambrell batted 3-4 with three RBIs. Warren batted 2-4 with a double and an RBI. Brenton Mack, Nigel Woodard and Rylan Woodard had two stolen bases each.

Another dominating performance from the hill propelled Fairfield into their 3-0 win over Great Falls on Friday. Tyon Belton completed six innings, striking out 11, walking one and allowing only two hits as Fairfield downed Great Falls 3-0. Warren and Gambrell each batted 2-3; Warren doubled again. Gambrell and Graeme Douglas had two steals each.

Fairfield will travel to Newberry tonight. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
