BLYTHEWOOD -The Blythewood baseball team (10-4, 6-2) went into Spring Break with an 11-10 Region 3-5A loss Friday at Clover.
The Bengals trailed 10-8 going into the top of the seventh inning when Landon Penfield smacked a 2-out double with Amare Counts and Sammy Franklin on base, scoring Counts. Franklin scored on a wild pitch to Macon Leppart to tie the game at 10.
Leppert reached base with an intentional walk, and Harrison Collins came to the plate with Penfield at third and Eli Marsha, running for Leppert, at first. Collins struck out to end the inning.
Chase Rollings was on the mound and got Ryan Stewart to pop out and then struck out Austin Mitchell.
T.J. McCluney singled, stole second as Dalton Hammonds batted, and took third on a throwing error. Hammonds then singled him in for the game-winning walk-off score.
Blythewood opened the eight-team South Carolina Diamond Invitational Wednesday and will play through Saturday.
