Blythewood girls keep winning

SENECA – Blythewood’s girls’ track and field team added more hardware to their collection, this time from Seneca High School’s Golden Corner Invitational.

The Bengal team scored 162 in a dominate performance on Saturday, finishing 74 points above second-place Seneca in the 22-team competition.

Blythewood had seven first-place finishes in 13 events. Olivia Taylor took first place in 400m at 57.27 and first in long jump at 5.3m. Aminah Rhone also had two top finishes on the day: 100m hurdles at 15.10 and 400m hurdles at 1:05.81. Dara Bolt was the Bengals’ third individual top finisher. She placed first in triple jump at 11.13m.

Taylor also had a second place finish in 200m with her season-best time of 24.77. Bolt finished in fourth in the 100m hurdles at 16.43.

Patience Lisbon stood atop the podium in each of her events. She placed second in 100m hurdles at 16.01, second in 400m hurdles at 1:08.43 and put up her season-fastest time of 25.78 in 200m for third place.

Peyton Hightower finished second in 400m at 57.66, and Anna Kelly placed second in 3200m run at 11:37.64. Haley Hightower (800m at 2:18.43) and Madison Ross (400m hurdles at 1:08.46) both had third place finishes in their events. Kennedy Anderson placed fifth in high jump at 1.45m.

Blythewood’s 4×100 relay team (49.06) and 4x400m relay team (4:01.59) both had top finishes. The 4x800m relay team finished in second place at 9:59.47.

The Bengal boys finished third on the day with a score of 69. Spring Valley finished first at 125, and Seneca finished second at 105.5.

Deangelo Brooks finished second in the 100m dash at 10.95 and fifth in 200m dash at 22.21. Ashton Pouncie and Dylan Horne both had third place finishes. Pounce’s 50.64 time in the 400m dash was his season-best. Horne placed third in shot put at 15.33m.

Johnathan McCray placed fourth in 400m hurdles at 1:00.96, and Santana Wright placed fourth in discus at 44.37.

The Bengal boys’ 4x400m relay team had their season-best time of 3:32.60 for second place. The 4x100m relay team finished in third at 43.37.

Blythewood traveled to Spring Valley on Wednesday for a meet, but results were not available before The Voice’s press deadline.
