Thomas Oswald

In Loving Memory of Thomas “Old Man” Oswald (1953–2024)

Thomas “Old Man” Oswald, affectionately known as “Old Man,” passed away on May 22, 2024, in Carson, North Dakota. Born on April 29, 1953, in Bronxville, New York, he was the son of the late Thomas V Oswald Sr. and Mildred (Gleason) Oswald. Old Man spent his formative years in Larchmont, New York, where he graduated from Mamaroneck High School.

A Life Filled with Passion

In the early 1990s, Old Man relocated to South Carolina, where he established and operated Thomas Oswald General Carpentry. His craftsmanship extended beyond carpentry; however, Old Man had a deep love for training bird dogs—a hobby that eventually led him to spend summers in a place he cherished: North Dakota. His jovial and light-hearted personality endeared him to everyone he met, and he never missed an opportunity to make those around him laugh.

Honoring His Passion

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America https://www.gspca.org/. This choice reflects Old Man’s passion for bird dogs and his desire to support their welfare.

Old Man departed this world exactly how he would have wanted: with his beloved dog Ike by his side and in a blaze of glory. May Thomas “Old Man” Oswald rest in peace, surrounded by the memories of laughter, love, and the joy he brought to others.
