
ORANGEBURG – Blythewood’s 8U All-Stars had hot bats over the weekend, but they fell to Georgetown 15-9 on Sunday to end their all-star run.
Despite the loss, Blythewood collected 18 hits in the high-scoring affair. Georgetown had 24 hits on the way to victory.
Ameila P provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Blythewood with three runs batted in. The catcher went 3-for-3 on the day. Molly, Ameila, and Bailey B each collected three hits for Blythewood. Adelae and Paisley M each collected multiple hits for Blythewood.
Georgetown got on the board in the top of the first inning after Aliza R homered to center field, scoring two runs, Sarah F singled, scoring two runs, and Memory P singled, scoring one run.
Blythewood plated one in the bottom of the frame to trail 5-1. Gracen W singled to lead off the inning, then Bailey singled and Gracen scored on a throwing error.
After a scoreless second inning, Georgetown scored eight runs on 10 hits in the top of the third.
Blythewood responded with four runs of their own in the bottom of the frame.
Adelae T singled to lead off the inning. Paisley M singled to advance Adelae. With two outs, Bailey B singled to load the bases, then Molly singled to score Adelae. Amelia P tripled to score three before the inning ended with Blythewood trailing 13-5.
Blythewood stepped up in the final two innings, including a three-run rally in the bottom of the fifth inning. They outscored Georgetown 4-2 in the fourth and fifth innings, but Georgetown held the lead to finish with a 15-9 final.
