Pressley named new FCSD Super

WINNSBORO – The Fairfield County School District Board of Trustees unanimously selected Alvin Pressley as the district’s next Superintendent during a special called board meeting held on Friday, June 13. Pressley will officially begin his new role on July 1.

Mr. Pressley currently serves as Superintendent of the School District of Newberry County. Throughout his career in education, he has held a variety of leadership roles, including director of secondary education in Lexington-Richland School District Five, executive director of high schools in Aiken County, and positions as a principal, assistant principal, and classroom teacher.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Mr. Pressley to the Fairfield family,” said Board Chair Henry Miller. “He brings a proven track record of leadership and success that will build on our district’s legacy of excellence.”

Pressley expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity, stating, “My family and I are thrilled to join the Fairfield County community” Pressley said.

“I’m grateful to the Board of Trustees for placing their trust in me, and I look forward to building strong relationships and working collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and the entire community to ensure the highest quality educational experiences for every child in Fairfield County,” he said. “Together, we will continue the tradition of excellence in all Fairfield County schools.”

Pressley earned his Ed.S., M.Ed. and B.S. from the University of South Carolina.  He will complete his Ed.D. from the University of South Carolina in December, 2027.

“The Fairfield County School District looks forward to this new chapter under Mr. Pressley’s leadership,” Miller said, “and remains dedicated to advancing student achievement and fostering a strong, supportive educational community. We are anxious for him to meet the community and will soon provide an opportunity for that.”
