BLYTHEWOOD – Blythewood and Westwood football teams both fell on the road in the 5A playoffs Friday night.
The Bengals (4-8), a No.10 seed in the 5A Division 1 upper-state bracket, fell 44-13 at No.2 Dorman. James Veasey passed for 92 yards and a 35-yard touchdown pass to Chance Johnson. Caedmon Watson had a touchdown pass to Ben Hendrix.
Johnny Young, Amari Fisher, Ryan Hall and Joshua Reaves were each credited with a sack. Hall also had a forced fumble. Young led with 8 total tackles.
Dorman (9-2) held a 24-0 lead at the half and held a 38-0 lead before Blythewood’s first score with 9 minutes left in the game. Nick Means had two touchdown runs and Clemson Commit Kentavion Anderson returned an interception for a score.
The loss dropped Blythewood to 4-8 on the season. Dorman advances to host to No.3 Ridge View Friday. The Blazers (8-3) beat No.6 Spartanburg 29-21.
A No.7 seed in the 5A Division 2 lower-state bracket, the Redhawks lost 48-20 to No.2 Berkeley. Angelo Rios scored a rushing and passing touchdown.
Stags quarterback Henry Rivers had a touchdown pass and two touchdown runs. Landon Jackson recovered two fumbles and returned both of them for touchdowns.
Westwood finishes the season 7-5, its first under head coach Stephen Burris.
Berkeley (9-2) plays host to No.3 Myrtle Beach (8-3) in the third round of the playoffs Friday. The Seahawks beat No.6 West Florence 24-21 last week.
