Fairfield Central, Richard Winn, Midlands STEM prep for tip off

FAIRFIELD COUNTY – Basketball season is just around the corner, and Fairfield County teams are ready.

Richard Winn girls will get their first taste of action on Saturday, Nov. 22 against Lewisville at 1 p.m. Both teams will host cross-town foe Midlands STEM Charter School on Monday, Dec. 1. The girls’ game is set for 6 p.m. and the boys’ game will follow.

Dec. 1 will also be the first official games for Midlands STEM Mavericks. The Maverick boys scrimmaged Clear Dot charter on Nov. 13 and fell 77-33. 

Across Hwy 321, Fairfield Central’s girls have gotten some pre-season play under their belts already. The Griffins fell 20-16 to North Central on Nov. 13.

The boys are scheduled to get underway in the Columbia Tip Off, a Thanksgiving week holiday tournament presented by Bethel Hanberry Alumni Association. The Griffins will face Blythewood at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 24 and Richland Northeast on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Both Griffin teams will open regular season play on Dec. 2 at home against Keenan. The girls’ game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., the boys will follow.
