
CLEMSON – Students from Fairfield Middle School and Fairfield Central High School were recognized for recent outstanding performances at the Clemson Declamation Contest 2025, bringing home a total of three medals.
In the Latin III category, Fairfield Central’s Zedrik Curabo earned 1st place, and Ryan Hinrichs, also a Fairfield Central Student, secured 2nd place. Curabo also took second place in Spanish II.
Other top finishers included Fairfield Middle School’s Ahmed El Bayoumi, who won 2nd place in Latin I.
According to Clemson’s website, the Declamation Contest is held annually for students from South Carolina and Georgia. Students recite chosen selections in their respective studies – Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Russian, and Spanish. Participants are judged on textual accuracy, pronunciation, text interpretation and smoothness of delivery.
This year’s contest, Clemson’s 52nd annual, was held on Saturday, Oct. 25.
Representatives from the school district said it is incredibly proud of all the participating students, who represented the Griffin spirit with excellence, passion, and dedication.
