The recent suspension of SNAP benefits is a critical issue causing profound difficulty for many families in Fairfield County.

We recognize the hardship and uncertainty this change has created for residents who rely on this aid for food.
To fully assess this challenge and develop a targeted local response, I convened a meeting of key county leaders on Oct. 31. We will convene a second meeting on Nov. 5 at the Fairfield County School District Office. The next meeting will expand our working group to include non-profit organizations and other partners who can directly assist with this vital food relief initiative.
Our immediate objective is to quantify the local impact, determine immediate needs, and coordinate resources to ensure food security for all Fairfield County families. We are working to strengthen community food networks and secure all available federal, state, and local funding.
I urge anyone affected to contact local resource centers for immediate assistance. We are committed to advocating for our residents and maintaining a strong, supportive community.
