Blythewood walks-off Sumter

BLYTHEWOOD – Blythewood softball’s matchup with Sumter came down to an eighth inning walk-off finish. Alyssa Davis’s one-out single to centerfield scored Macie Young to secure a 3-2 win for the Bengals (11-4, 7-2).

Young ignited the eighth with a leadoff single and advanced to third on Cici Martin’s double before Davis’s game-winner. Sumter led twice, but Blythewood found answers at every turn. Rhames Weisinger tied the game at 1-1 in the first with an RBI double, and Hillary Ortiz knotted the score at 2-2 in the fourth with a clutch two-out single.

Lily Zell was dominant in the circle, throwing a complete game and holding the Gamecocks scoreless over the final five innings. Zell finished with eight strikeouts.
