FAIRFIELD COUNTY — The South Carolina Department of Transportation has closed the S.C. Highway 200 bridge over Minton Creek for a total replacement project.
The closure began April 1, 2026. Transportation officials estimate the construction will take approximately 17 months to complete, which would place the bridge’s reopening in late summer 2027.
During the construction period, motorists will be diverted onto a 13.14-mile detour. The SCDOT-approved route will utilize S.C. 200, Interstate 77, and Old River Road (S-20-41).
The net detour length is estimated at 13.14 miles. SCDOT officials advise drivers to plan for extra travel time and to follow all posted detour signage in the Fairfield County area.
Residents or commuters with questions regarding the project may contact Alan Kozusko, the SCDOT resident maintenance engineer for Fairfield County, at 803-635-4222.
