Blythewood Tree Lighting set for Sunday

BLYTHEWOOD – Carolighting, Blythewood’s tree lighting ceremony, is one of the town’s most popular traditions. On the Sunday after Thanksgiving, folks from the community gather around the town’s Christmas tree at Town Hall around 5 p.m. They sing along with caroling choirs from area churches, enjoy refreshments and visit.

This year, the holiday gathering music will be performed by Blythewood’s own Vance and Jeannie Sharpe, Trinity United Methodist Adult Choir, Round Top Baptist Children’s Choir and Don Russo’s Freeway Music students – all on the steps of the Town Hall.

Mayor J. Michael Ross will serve as emcee, and Rev. Eddie Davis, pastor of Little Zion Baptist Church, will give the invocation.

Santa will be there, of course, to visit with the kids and take orders.

The tree will be lit this year by the town’s first family, then it’s on to the refreshment tables.
