Martha Elizabeth (Bette) Dixon

Martha Elizabeth (Bette) Dixon passed away July 28, 2025. She was born in Winnsboro on September 24, 1933. She was 91. She loved the Lord and was very knowledgeable in the teachings of the Bible.

Her services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, August 1, 2025, at Sion Presbyterian Church in Winnsboro where she was an active, life-long member. She also enjoyed the Wednesday night fellowship and Bible study at Bethel ARP Church. A private graveside service will be held at Hebron Presbyterian in Chester County.

Bette was predeceased by parents David Mobley Dixon and Martha Heath Caldwell Dixon, and by a brother David Heath Dixon, Sr.
Bette is survived by sister-in-law Emily D. Dixon, a nephew: David H. Dixon, Jr., and two nieces, Louise Dixon Parsons of Charlotte, N.C, and Margaret Dixon Rivers (Dwayne) of Lexington, S.C., . She is also survived by numerous Dixon and Caldwell cousins.

The family would like to especially thank Betty Crouch as a devoted and attentive friend, and many thanks to the staff of Vitality Assisted Living where she became close friends with staff personnel and residents. She was also professionally attended by Amedisys Hospice Care.
Bette was a proud member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), Fairfield Historical Society, Friends of the Fairfield Museum, and many other organizations over her lifetime.
She was a passionate reader. She had a particular interest in genealogy and spent hours researching and discussing family history.
Her early working life was associated with Fairfield Memorial Hospital and from there worked and eventually retired from the Fairfield County public school system. Many former students would come up to her and say they remembered and appreciated her being in their lives.
