Minnie was a graduate of the original Blythewood High School class of 1953 where she served on Blythe-Words, Blythe-Spirit, 4-H Club and FBLA. While in high school, she met our precious Daddy during a school function, and the rest is history.

Minnie was an avid gardener; she served as President of the Byrneswood Garden Club and received many honors for yard of the month. She was a floral designer for several weddings including her granddaughters and was also known for her famous poundcakes, coconut cakes and sweet potato pies. Her hobbies also included wreath making and ceramics. The greatest joy of Mama’s life was spending time with her family.

After their marriage, she was active at Pineview Baptist Church where she served in Sunday School, VBS and WMU. She later moved back to her childhood church, Sandy Level Baptist where she served on the Hostess Committee helping to design the current kitchen. She and her sisters were the ‘SLBC Chuckwagon Gang’ preparing meals for VBS. Also at Sandy Level, she was a member of the Primetimers, and an honorary member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class

Minnie retired from Hobart/Whirlpool Corporation. After that, she worked as preschool teacher at Trinity Childcare until a shoulder injury forced her to retire in 2017.

The funeral service for Minnie will be held Tuesday, August 26th, at Sandy Level Baptist Church in Blythewood at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends at 2:00 in the Fellowship Hall. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.

The family wishes to thank Three Oak Hospice, specifically Andrew Hall for their excellent and loving care shown not only to mama but her family as well during her illness.
