Bengals level Clover

CLOVER – The Blythewood football team quickly shook off a 1-5 Region 5-5A performance on Friday. They hit the road with a 10 seed in the upper state bracket of the 5A Division 1 playoffs and walloped No.7 Clover 42-23.

Junior quarterback James Veasey hit his stride, running the ball 17 times for 188 yards and two touchdowns. He was also 9-for-24 in passing for 138 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Ben Hendrix.

Landyn Strong had 21 carries for 88 yards and a score.

Blythewood racked up 591 all-purpose yards, 99 of those coming from interception returns.

Daquan Davis and Michael Ford both intercepted Clover passes and returned for touchdowns. Davis took his 60 yards; Ford had a 39-yard pick-six.

Marlon Glover and Jeremy Harris led the Bengals in tackles Glover had an interception, and Harris had two tackles for loss.  William Perkins and Joshua Reaves each had a sack.

The Bengals (4-7) travel to Roebuck Friday to take on No.2 Dorman (8-2) Friday. The Region 2-5A champions had a bye week in the first round of the playoffs.
