FAIRFIELD COUNTY – From youth sports to fitness classes, Fairfield County Parks and Recreations is inviting residents of all ages to get active and involved.
Youth Activities
Only one day remains to register for Youth Basketball ($20) through the recreation department. Leagues are offered for boys and girl from ages 4-12. Ages 4-6 are co-ed, and boys and girls teams are separated beginning at seven years old. The boys’ league ranges from 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12. Girls’ teams are offered for ages 7-9 and 10-12.

With the New Year approaching quickly, registration has opened for dance classes, held on Tuesdays beginning in January. Offerings include Ballet for 3-5 year olds from 4 –4:45 p.m., and Hip Hop for ages 6 and up from 5 – 5:45 p.m. Ballet is $20 per month, and hip hop is $25 monthly. Fitness Classes
The recreation department is also featuring several fitness opportunities for adults.
Instructor Lynn Tanner will host E.D.I.T. (Easy Does It Training) Chair fitness classes on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10:15 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Boykin Recreation Center. The class offers a low-impact workout that includes chair yoga, tai chi, Pilates, and slow movements. The cost is $10 per month for gym members and $20 per month for non-members.
A Total Body Gym Circuit workout is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 22 from 9 – 10 a.m. at the Community Fitness Center (795 5th Street in Winnsboro). This intensive, one-hour circuit is free to members and $5 for non-members.
