Sara Shaw Stevenson, 95, of Winnsboro, SC, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
Born on August 10, 1930, in Winnsboro, she was the daughter of Lacy L. Shaw and Grace Shaw.
Sara began her secretarial career with Uniroyal in 1950 and retired from Michelin (Uniroyal-Goodrich) in 1992 with 42 years of service.
A devoted member of Gordon Memorial Methodist Church for 89 years, which was an important part of her daily life, Sara loved her pastors and her church family.
She married the love of her life, Jack Stevenson, in 1950 and they celebrated 69 years together before his passing in 2019.
Sara is survived by two children, Jack Richard Stevenson, Jr. and Karen Stevenson Dove, both of Rock Hill, SC; six grandchildren, Brad Hughes (Jennifer), Ashley Schmiedl (Andrew), Jack Stevenson III (Britni), Amanda Kirklin (Aaron), Allison Dove, Sarah Beth Stevenson; nine greatgrandchildren, Preston and Beckham Dove, Kylie and Hayden Hughes, Jax and Reagan Stevenson, and Leagan, Parker, and Hannah Kirklin.
Sara was a true Southern lady and will always be remembered for her sweet smile by all who knew and loved her. She was a devoted mother, Nana, and Grandnana. One of the last of the Greatest Generation, Sara will be truly missed by all who were blessed to be a part of her life.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sara was predeceased by her oldest daughter, Janice S. Jones; daughter-in-law Yvonne Stevenson; infant grandson, Joshua Stevenson; and her siblings, Mary Berry, Doris Bennett, Natalie Brigman, Lacy Shaw Jr., Bud Shaw, Mickey Hunt, and Doug Shaw.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19 at Gordon Memorial Methodist Church (502 Fifth St, Winnsboro, SC) conducted by Pastor Kem Thomas. Burial will follow in Fairfield Memorial Cemetery, Smallstown Rd, Winnsboro.
The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m. in the Family Life Center at Gordon Memorial Methodist Church. Memorials can be made to the Ladies Club of Gordon Memorial.
