BLYTHEWOOD – The last windmill in downtown Blythewood was erected circa 1920 in the backyard of Durham Boney’s home on Oakhurst Road.
Last June, the current owner of that backyard, John Miles, donated the then-inoperable 70-foot tall, 105-or-so-year-old windmill to the Blythewood Historical Society & Museum where it stands in the backyard of the Langford-Nord house.
Now restored, the windmill’s shiny blades set sail last week in the brilliant sunlight high above the town. More information will be shared when the BHS&M holds a community ribbon cutting in the spring.
