This is to serve as a note of thanks to Sheriff Herman Young for his many years of selfless and dedicated service to the people of Fairfield County. He is a respected leader here in our community, as well as across our state’s law enforcement community.
Transcending all social and economic lines, he ably served the 25,000 residents of our county, and because of his leadership and the great team of deputies he assembled over the years, Fairfield County is a better place because Sheriff Young passed our way. His retirement is our loss, but he has surely deserved the rest that comes with it.
As the voters of Fairfield County look to selecting a new person to lead our Sheriff’s Office, we will all be better served to elect a person who will lead in the careful and deliberative manner that Sheriff Young has set as the standard in law enforcement. We are fortunate to have several great candidates, and I wish them all the best of luck.
