Bravo, Blythewood

Bravo to the Mayor and members of the Blythewood Town Council for ending the costly proposal to erect another building at Doko Park so a private enterprise could establish a restaurant. As the motion to ditch the project said, it was “not in the best interest of the people . . . to incur, directly or indirectly, any additional debt” in connection with the park.

Perhaps that will change at a future date but there are more important needs for Blythewood. Sidewalks, curbs and storm drains, plus pavement of streets without pot holes in the downtown area are needed much more than a restaurant in Doko Park.

I would hazard a guess that if Blythewood takes care of the aforementioned public works on our streets and the potential of landscaping the I-77 intersection at Blythewood Road, it will bring our little town a lot more attention than a costly restaurant.
