MSI students accepted to SC Governor’s School

WINNSBORO – Two Midlands Stem Institute students – Mya Kowalke and Eli Moore – have been accepted into the South Carolina Governor’s School.

Kowalke has attended MSI since 2018, where she participated in cross country and was a member of the journalism team.  She will be attending the South Carolina Governor’s School for Agriculture at John de la Howe her senior year.

Moore has attended MSI since 2015, where he was captain of the chess team and led the team to several victories. He was also a member of the National Honor Society and participated in cross country and baseball. He will be attending the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics at Hartsville his junior and senior years.

Kevin Thomas, chairman of the board, has known both families for years, and he is excited for the future of these Midlands Stem Scholars. “I am beyond happy for these students, and I know they will represent Midlands Stem and Fairfield County with grace and dignity.”

“I have only best wishes for a bright future for these wonderful students who I have grown to know and love,” said Cynthia Prince, Executive Director and Principal of the school. “They have both consistently shown scholarship, leadership, and goodwill. Truly, the sky’s the limit for them.”

Midlands Stem Institute is located at 112 Crane Street in Winnsboro. For information, call 803-815-1524.
