BLYTHEWOOD – The Town of Blythewood July 3 Fireworks event is usually the best attended event in the town, and this year was no exception.

According to Steve Hasterok, Director of Doko Manor and Doko Park, this year’s event may have topped the last six.

“We had the perfect weather, three onstage bands, 20 or so great food vendors and our usual fantastic half hour of fireworks,” Hasterok said.
“And it all came together to attract between 5,000 and 6,000 attendees to the event.”

“I don’t know when we’ve had a more well attended event. The park accommodated families, hundreds of children at the playground area and people who just wanted to put the pandemic behind them and go out in the park and have a good time.”

Kids were entertained by Luna Trix Arts, and there was a full half hour of fireworks that lit up the sky over Doko Meadows Park.

Featured artists included Mason Horne, Blues DeLuxe Band and the DB Bryant Band.

This year, a Freeway Music Showcase began at 1 p.m. in front of the Doko Station restaurant at the entrance to the park where student musicians entertained throughout the afternoon.
