Fairfield County Museum featured on ‘Making it Grow’

WINNSBORO – SC Educational Television’s popular “Making It Grow” program will travel to the Fairfield County Museum in Winnsboro next week.  Two segments will air. Both were recorded during the museum’s Holiday Gala last year.

The first segment features Sunny Turner, who lives in Winnsboro and produces pecans and honey that she packages and sells at the local Fairfield Farmers and Artisans Market. Turner, a member of Winnsboro’s Anemone Garden Club, talks with “Making it Grow” host Amanda McNulty about how, every year, the town’s three garden clubs – Anemone Garden Club, Town & Country Gardeners, and Winnsboro Garden Club transform the historic museum with fresh greenery, vibrant fruit displays, and beautiful arrangements in preparation for the museum’s annual Holiday Gala that will be held this year on Sunday, Dec. 7. Turner and McNulty talk about how the collaborative effort brings history and the holidays to life in every room of the historic museum building during the holidays.

During the program, Turner also talks about the many festive events the museum hosts throughout the year.

In another segment, McNulty sat down with the museum’s director, Pelham Lyles, who gives viewers a closer look at a special exhibit featuring a wide variety of sleigh bells once used on horses and carriages. From their different sizes and designs to the unique sounds they were crafted to make, this charming collection offers a nostalgic glimpse into holiday traditions and historic transportation.

The two segments are tentatively set to air at 7 p.m. on the Nov. 25 “Making it Grow” program on SCETV.

But if you miss it, don’t worry. It will be on YouTube the next day.

The Museum is located at 231 S. Congress St. in downtown Winnsboro.
