LAKE WATEREE – Representing the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, Lt. Chris Childers brought home the People’s Choice Award at the annual Chili Cook-Off hosted by The Retreat at Lake Wateree. The event, held on Sunday, benefited Special Olympics South Carolina and featured a 12-team cook-off and a fun-filled day for the community.

Attendees enjoyed bounce houses, live music from Dean Peterson Jr., animal balloons, corn hole, cold brews, baked goods from Southern Sweets, and plenty of chili. The Sheriff’s Office team’s winning entry was a highlight of the festivities, earning recognition for both taste and community spirit.

Proceeds from the event support Special Olympics South Carolina.  The Fairfield Sheriff’s Office participates annually in the South Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.  SC Law Enforcement Torch Run officials said it was a “perfect day” for giving back.
