Alice P. “Sally” Gissendanner

WINNSBORO – Services for Mrs. Alice P. “Sally” Gissendanner will be held at 11 o’clock Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at Washington Street Baptist Church, 401 N. Vanderhorst St., Winnsboro, conducted by the Rev. DeWitt Atkerson. Interment will follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Columbia.

Mrs. Gissendanner passed away peacefully at her home Monday morning, Feb. 20, 2017. Born on Nov. 5, 1923 in Neoga, Ill., she was the daughter of the late John and Bessie Perry. Mrs. Gissendanner worked many years as a legal secretary and retired as secretary to the Chief of Police for the City of Columbia. She was always very active in her church especially on fellowship committees.

In addition to her parents and her husband, George W. Gissendanner, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Glenda S. Gissendanner. She is survived by brothers-in-law, Donald and Vernon Gissendanner of Columbia, and several nieces and nephews. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Washington Street Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 462, Winnsboro, S.C. 29180
