The Dentsville Youth Baseball Softball League (DYBSL) 10U All-Stars, which includes four girls from Blythewood (Maddie Dinkins, Kendall Parker, Emily Babbitt and Grace Campbell), swept the competition to become the 2012 S.C. State Champions in the Dixie Softball League in the tournament in Hanahan last week – a first for a Dentsville softball team.

The Dentsville All-Stars knocked off Lake Marion 9-1 in the opener, then edged out Turbeville by 2 in round two. The All-Stars easily handled Landrum, 14-1 and squeaked by the hometown hosts, Hanahan, 3-2 before trouncing Latta 11-0 in the finale.

This team goes forward to compete as the S.C. representatives in the World Series for Dixie League in Georgetown, July 27 – Aug. 1.

“It’s fortunate for our team, our families and our fans to have the World Series played in South Carolina this year,” said coach Sabrina Parker. “We’ve jumped out in front early, we’ve had to come from behind, our pitching and defense is bull-dog tough and somehow we find the way to win.”

The S.C. State All-Stars invite all their fans to create a home state advantage for the team by attending the World Series games in Georgetown this year.
