Joe Trapp and his granddaughter Laura Lynn Benson, 6, start the summer off right, picking chocolate cherry tomatoes and bell peppers from his raised beds of tomato trees in Blythewood. Trapp also grows corn,Blue Lake and foot-long green beans, okra, blueberries, figs, muscadines and other fruits and vegetables in his several-acre back garden.

Eric Robinson, Director of the newly named Sarah D. McMaster Fairfield County Library, and the library’s namesake and former Director Sarah McMaster, hold an artist’s rendering of the library and its proposed signage reflecting the new name. Fairfield County Council unanimously voted last month to rename the library after McMaster who retired in April.
